Here she is, in 1960 with my oldest brother, looking remarkably like Amy Winehouse. I normally try and avoid Mothers Day (be it here or in the States) but at the funeral her friends said I had her grace, which wasn't something I'd acknowledged either of us having, but here I think she does. Maybe one day, I will too.

That is one gorgeous picture.
My sis told me the other day that she had found 'that' picture of my Mum and would send me a copy. We all remember it from rummaging through the photo boxes when we were kids and it was taken long before any of us were born - before she'd even met my Dad. It is her and an army mate, aged about 19 - 20 at the most, standing with their arms round each other with both of them crammed into one leg each of a gigantic pair of khaki pants (as in English pants - not trousers), heads flung back and giggling their heads off. Can't wait to see it again.

I have *exactly* the same hair as my mum - same double crown, kicks out and under in all the same places and onset of grey, as it turns out.
